Yobe Reps demands transparent probe of Gashu’a army/civilian clash

The Federal Lawmaker and member representing Bade/ Jakusko in the House of Representatives, Hon. Hassan K. Jakduwa, has called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the recent mayhem between the Nigerian Armed Forces and some community members in Gashua town, headquarters of Bade Local Government Area.
Jakduwa noted that it is crucial that the investigation is carried out impartially, and that all parties involved are held accountable, adding that transparency and justice must be the cornerstones of our response to ensure that trust is restored among the residents.
He stated this position n a statement he issued and made available to journalists in Damaturu, on Friday.
He said: “It is with a deep sense of concern that I address the recent unfortunate events that transpired between the residents of Gashua and members of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
“This distressing incident has not only led to a loss of life but has also sown seeds of discord within our community, which has long been known for its peace and unity.

“I am calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into the events that led to this violence. It is crucial that this investigation is carried out impartially and that all parties involved are held accountable.
“Transparency and justice must be the cornerstones of our response to ensure that trust is restored among our residents.
He however, condoled with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives or were injured during these clashes, saying, “Such losses are profound and irreplaceable, and we mourn with those who mourn following these sad incidents.”
According to him: “It is essential that we come together as a community to support those affected and ensure that they receive the necessary care and assistance during this difficult time.
“As we navigate through this challenging period, it is imperative that we seek to understand the circumstances that led to this conflict and work diligently to address the underlying issues.
“I have been in direct contact with local leaders, security forces, and government officials to gather accurate information and to discuss the steps we can take to prevent such incidents in the future.”
Furthermore, he advocated for an immediate dialogue between the community leaders, security forces, and government representatives.
“It is only through open communication and mutual understanding that we can ensure the safety and security of our citizens while respecting the fundamental rights of all parties involved”, he emphasized.
