Yobe Unveils Investment Opportunities at UNGA 2026

The Yobe State Government presented its investment agenda at the 2026 United Nations General Assembly, seeking partnerships and investment in agriculture, renewable energy, mining, healthcare, livestock and youth empowerment.
Represented by Secretary to the State Government Dr Mohammed Goje, Governor Mai Mala Buni said Yobe was showcasing its resources, strategic location and youthful population to attract investors and promote sustainable growth.
He highlighted 1.6 million hectares of arable land, livestock resources, sesame and gum arabic production, soybean opportunities, four sesame-processing factories and access to markets in Niger, Chad and the wider Sahel.
The government is also seeking investment to modernise livestock markets in Potiskum, Buni, Geidam, Garin Alkali and other areas under the Yobe State Public-Private Partnership Law 2023. The state’s PPP and Investment Promotion Agency will coordinate investor engagement.
At the Unstoppable Africa Forum, the delegation discussed partnerships with Alhaji Aliko Dangote to support widows, women and conflict victims through sustainable income-generating investments.
The delegation also engaged the United Nations Youth Office on funding, internships, technology and professional networks for young people. Discussions included Yobe’s possible participation in a UN Youth Town Hall in Heidelberg, Germany, and a proposed youth-development boot camp.
The delegation joined African leaders at the Accra Reset launch of A Sovereign Future for Health, which focused on African ownership of health systems, domestic financing and institutional capacity.
The statement said the discussions aligned with Buni’s investments in healthcare infrastructure, services and workforce development.
At an African Union-European Union dialogue on Youth, Peace and Security, the delegation discussed the Bujumbura Outcomes, generational leadership and youth participation in peacebuilding and governance.
