The paramount Chief of Yoruba in the FCT, Oba Olusegun Salau, had said that the 30 Yoruba leaders across the six area councils are now united, despite the divisions faced by the Yoruba community about fifteen years ago.
Salau, who stated this in an interview with newsmen during the meeting held with the Obas of Yoruba in his residence in Abuja, pointed out that the Association of Yoruba Community, has no faction in the FCT.
He said his leadership would continue to carry the Yoruba people along irrespective of their religious differences.
He urged the Obas (Chiefs) in the six area councils to remain custodians of their people, so as to move the Yoruba community forward.
When asked whether the Association of Yoruba Community was registered, Salau said the association was registered and recognized by the government of the day in the territory.
On their parts, the chief of Yoruba in Garki, Oba Ramani Atanda and the Otunba of Yoruba (Yoruba traditional prime minister) in the FCT, Chief Wasiu Tunwase, expressed joy over the current mutual understanding existing among the Yoruba people in Abuja.
Tunwase emphasized that the Yoruba people have been relating fine with the indigenes of Abuja, as he described the indigenes as peace-loving people.
During the meeting, a 5–man committee was set up to review the constitution of the association.
