The president Abuja Original Inhabitant Youths Empowerment Organisation (AOIYEO) Amb. Isaac David has called for more closer working relationship between the six area councils chairmen, security operatives, and traditional institutions, to tackle security challenges in FCT communities.
David, who made this call during a security awareness and sensitization programme across the six area councils of the FCT, which commenced in Abaji area council, then proceeded to Kwali area Council, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Bwari and rounded off in AMAC respectively last month.
He noted that although the leaders of FCT area councils have always been at the forefront of the tackling of issues relating to security situations in their councils, calling for the urgent need for them to change strategies, through the collaborative effort of all.
He also reminded the council chairmen that so many funds have gone to the security sector, because of the importance of lives and properties in society.
He advised the chairmen to use the opportunity and advantage available to them, to work closely with the FCTA, to promote security awareness in the FCT, which in the future can be replicated in every part of the political ward and communities.
“A lot of things are being done at the ministry of FCT, which is a stone throw distance between all the area councils office and FCT office. It will be good for the chairmen to do a lot through collaborating with the FCT.
“So, that when other citizens come from their states to the FCT, they will see what you are doing in partnership with the FCT, in terms of security, so that they can replicate them in their respective states,” he stressed.
