Yuletide: Delta Police ban fireworks

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim has announced that the ban on the use of fireworks is still in force and that the Command will enforce all the extant laws prohibiting the use of fireworks such as “knock-out,” “banger”..
The CP, while noting that the ban is necessary to safe-guard public safety and avoid distractions to security operatives, especially during the yuletide season, enjoins members of the public not to run afoul of the law as anyone caught will be decisively dealt with.
The CP also assures Deltans of their safety at all times and called on them to continue to support the police and other security agencies in their untiring efforts at providing a peaceful and secure environment for the people.
Meanwhile, the annual end of year free rural medical outreach organized by the Dr. Isioma Okobah Foundation will kick off on Tuesday at the Ogwashi-Uku prisons Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area.
The Wife of the Delta State Governor, Dame Edith Okowa will flag off the programme at 10 am in the morning.
A statement by Dr. Mrs. Isioma Okobah says this year’s edition of the free medical prorgamme is specially designed to address the health needs of inmates of the 5 federal prisons in Delta State.
The statement adds that the foundation is collaborating with the 05 initiative, and Medical Students of Georgia State University Atlanta under the brand name, “Medical Students Making a Difference” (MSMD) to make the free health programme a special package for inmates of Ogwashi-Uku, Kwale, Warri, Sapele and Agbor prisons.
Other communities to benefit from the programme include Igbodo, Emuhu and Ewuru in Ika South Local Govenrment.
During the programme, participants would be examined medically and provided with free medication to address their ailments.
