In his determination to curb various cases of fire disasters during the Yuletide and harmattan season, the Controller General, Federal Fire Service, Samuel Adeyemi, has warned Nigerians against bush burning and use of fireworks.
Adeyemi gave the warning on Wednesday in Abuja, during the launch of harmattan bush burning campaign.
During the campaign, the fire service boss also had a strategic meeting with Zonal Controllers to assess operational readiness and strengthen preparedness, during the high-risk periods of harmattan season and the Yuletide festivities.
Speaking at the meeting which held virtually, he said the campaign which is a new initiative was meant to reduce losses during the period.
He told officers to be at alert to curb cases of fire disasters across the country.
“Interestingly, all our operational men are on ground to curb any cases of fire disasters across the country.
“The service under my watch will continue to do its best to address cases of fire disasters.
“Also, we will continue our campaign to
enlighten Nigerians about the dangers of bush burning and fire works.”
