Yuletide: Food poison kills four family members in Delta

In what looks like fables in unbelievable manners yesterday enveloped Ubulu-nor Community, Delta State, when four family members were allegedly killed in suspected food poison, leaving security agents to have swung into investigations to uncover the mystery behind their death.

Reports said that the victims of inexplicable death were seen bubbling at the new year watch night eve where hundreds of persons within and outside the community were seen jostling to catch the glimpse of church services before the new year day.

It was reliably gathered that the victims had returned from their various visitations after a unanimous happy New Year from all and sundry, and retired to bed leaving their relations to unsuspecting act.

Sources said that the victims’ death was noticed at about 2:30pm when their peer groups visited their house to invite them for a village party said to have been organized by the youths in the community. But this was not to be when the four persons between the ages of 21, 22, 23 and 24 were allegedly noticed with white foam emitting from their mouths, while their visitors shouted for help.

While the shout for help lasted, it was further gathered that the victims were already presented in the departure lounge before they were rushed to a nearby clinic where it was confirmed that they were already dead.

But Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Celetsina Kalu when contacted denied the incident, assuring that she was going to investigate the report before getting back to the press.

However, a police officer in the area, who did not want his name in the print, confirmed that the security agents in the area have commenced a full scale investigation to uncover the circumstances that led to their untimely death.

Relations of the victims, one of them who claimed to be Ogbueshi Stephen said, “We family members have suspected that the victims were poisoned because of the white foam that was coming out of their mouths.
