The Federal University Gusau (FUG) has announced on its tweeter page that, the troops have rescued 16 abducted students and labourers who have been kidnapped by bandits.
In its tweeter page officially captioned ‘For Immediate Release’ today (Monday), the FUG said the troops have been able to rescue 13 students and 3 labourers who have been abducted during last Friday’s bandits attack.
The tweet reads, “In it’s remarkable turn of events, 16 individuals, 13 students and 3 labourers have regained freedom, thanks to the swift and courageous efforts of the military”.
It would be recalled, bandits invaded Sabon Gida last Friday where they attacked and abducted scores of female students in their hostels after the abduction of labourers who were engaged for construction works in the University.
The State Government has earlier assured safety return of the abducted students, upon which Governor Dauda Lawal directed security operatives to embark on aggressive pursuance of the bandits with a view to rescue the victims health and hearty.
In a subsequent reaction on an incessant attacks and abductions by bandits in the state, Governor Dauda Lawal has charged the Federal Government to investigate concern authorities assigned in that direction.
