The 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Zamfara State has distributed cardigans and shoes to over 500 vulnerable students been selected from Islamiyya schools from the state marking its 2026 Army Remembrance Day, seeking Almighty God’s intervention to end the lingering security challenges and to pray for forgiveness to thousands of Soldiers that paid supreme prize while on duty across the nation.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony in Gusau on Sunday, the Commandant of the 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Mustapha Jimoh who was represented by the Chief Imam of the Brigade, Major M. Halilu, said the development followed a resolution to seek prayers for the troops of the Nigerian Army’s victory in all the ongoing operations aimed to restore peace.
“The Chief Imam further told the teeming beneficiaries that, Soldiers were not only trained to kill, but is also about offering humanitarian aids especially where there is an outbreak or epidemic that involves floods and other related incidents aimed to downsize the pains and fears of those that are directly affected, and to economically alleviate hardship among the vulnerable citizens.
“My Commandant directed that, I should ask you to pray for the successes and divine protection of the troops of the Nigerian Army wherever they are deployed to operate for the restoration of normalcy across the country and even beyond.
“We have learnt that most of you are walking barefooted and are lacking wears that would warm you especially as we are now under winter season, for this, our Commandant, Brigadier General Jimoh has chosen to provide shoes and cardigans for you”, he further explained.
