FCT Police Arrest Three Armed Robbery Suspects Over Barrister’s Murder in Abuja

Date:

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three notorious armed robbery suspects in connection with the murder of Barrister Chigbo Princess Nwamaka Mediatrix.

The suspects, members of a “one-chance” criminal syndicate, were apprehended following intelligence-led operations in Kubwa.

The arrests were made between January 5 and 10, 2026, after operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, tracked the victim’s mobile phone and conducted follow-up operations in Dei-Dei, Dakwa, and Dan-Tata communities.

The suspects are:
Saifullahi Yusuf, 22, from Kaduna State, resident in Dan-Tata, Dei-Dei, Abuja
Ishau Yusuf, 24, also from Kaduna State and Saifullahi’s brother
Minka’ilu Jibril, aka Dan-Hajia, from Kaduna State

Investigations revealed that on January 5, 2026, at about 5:50 p.m., Barr. Chigbo unknowingly boarded a black Volkswagen Golf 3 along Kubwa Expressway.

The suspects reportedly wound up the vehicle’s tinted windows and threatened her with weapons to extort a ransom. When she allegedly refused, she was physically assaulted and pushed out of the moving vehicle, leading to her death.

The suspects also admitted to stealing the victim’s Android mobile phone, which was sold for ₦120,000. The proceeds were reportedly shared among the suspects, with Minka’ilu Jibril receiving ₦30,000 and Saifullahi Yusuf ₦15,000, while the remaining sum was shared by Ishau Yusuf and another suspect, Musa, who remains at large.

He urged the public to remain vigilant, avoid unregistered or suspicious vehicles, and report suspicious activities to the emergency numbers 08032003913 or 07057337653.

Investigation is ongoing, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspect and uncover other criminal networks linked to the syndicate.
