A Nongovernmental Organization Health Standard Concern Organization (HESCO), the focal NGO for the Zamfara State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) project, has conducted a one-day workshop to develop guidelines for community systems and structures.

The workshop brought together key stakeholders, including Local Government Project Implementation Committees (LGPICs) and Community Interest Groups (CIGs) from the project’s two catchments across three Local Government Areas, Bungudu, Kaura Namoda, and Gusau the state capital.

Speaking, the State Project Manager of HESCO, Murtala Iliyasu, said the workshop is aimed to develop comprehensive guidelines for community systems and structures that will enhance resilience and sustainability in ACReSAL project communities.

Iliyasu disclosed that, it would also foster collective action and community-driven initiatives to address climate change challenges as well as promoting sustainable development and improve the livelihoods of project beneficiaries.

Also speaking, the State Executive Director if HESCO, Abdullahi Lawali, said this workshop marks a significant milestone in an efforts to empower communities and promote sustainable development.

“We believe that collective action and community-driven initiatives are crucial in addressing climate change challenges. By working together, we can build resilient communities that can withstand the impacts of climate change and promote sustainable livelihoods.

“We are committed to supporting our communities in their efforts to develop and implement sustainable solutions”, he further informed.
