The programme was with a view to discourage growing violent extremism across communities in the state.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the workshop Wednesday in Gusau the state capital, Zamfara State Chairperson of PAVE, Hajiya A’isha Abdu Gusau, said the essence of the two day training workshop was to bring all stakeholders together for sensitization on ways to fight against root causes of violence extremism and to encourage local ownership of peace building.
Abdu Gusau emphasized that, at the end of the meeting, the participants are expected to obtain knowledge on the importance of detecting problems before they escalate to formidable stages leading to fierce violence in the society.
According to her, “The participants are expected to embark on activities discouraging promoters of violence who usually take advantage of religious ignorance of many youth.
“It is important to note that, other main targets of the training is to ensure establishing Community-Based Recovery, Reintegration and Reconciliation (CB-RRR) that would focus vividly in rebuilding trust and supporting returnees, as well as facilitating peaceful reintegration”.
