The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State has reacted to the arrest of a former minister, Ambassador and others, saying the APC ruling government masterminded the arrest.

Addressing newsmen at the residence of Gen. Aliyu Gusau (Rtd) in Gusau, the state chairman of PDP, Mukhtar Mohammed Lugga said the ruling APC was afraid to see such a crowd behind PDP.

He said the APC ruling government claimed that the rally was illegal, pointing out that PDP had obtained permission from the inspector General of Police (IGP), DSS and other security agencies in the state before the rally.

“Even before the rally, our supporters had been warned to be law-abiding because it is very clear that APC in the State is playing politics with bitterness”, he lamented.

Lugga insisted that none of the PDP members tempered with any billboard or poster belonging to APC or anybody, pointing out that even if APC claims that its billboards and posters were destroyed, APC must have been responsible to score a cheap political point.

He noted that the PDP in the state can never be intimidated with security operatives, vowing that the party in the state would not surrender to any threats by APC and would not change its focus rather, saying the aim and objective of PDP is to change the narrative in the state.

“We are aware that all the empty propaganda that the APC is making in the state was just to secure sympathy from people and get cheap publicity because the party knows that the electorates in the State would revolt against APC in the 2023 general elections.

Speaking further, the chairman lamented that APC is the root of any political unrest in the state, pointing out that the party would cause political unrest and return to fix blame on PDP.

Lugga explained that the very day the peace accord was signed by all political parties in the state, PDP Secretariat in Gusau was attacked by uniformed men, stressing that the evidence is with them including videos.

He maintained that the peace accord must be revisited if actually the security agencies want peace in the state because APC in the state is the security problem.

He advised APC to play politics by the rule, saying that the party wants to retain power by all means through do-or-die affairs, stressing that no form of intimidation would stop the PDP in the State from forging ahead.
