From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau

The Zamfara State ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed to win the forthcoming bye-election at Kaura Namoda South.

The election is slated for 16th August by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), as Lawali Madaro emerged winner of the primary election.

Briefing journalists in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, the State Secretary of the PDP, Nazeeru Ibrahim Rufa’i, said 14 bonafide members of the party had initially indicated interest amongst whom one of them would be picked as a party flag bearer for the contest of the bye-election.

“After series of meetings with the party stakeholders of the constituency and other esteemed politicians in Kaura Namoda, all the interested candidates had stepped down for Muhammad Lawal Kurya to become a sole candidate for the PDP.”
