Zamfara State Police Command has declared a total war against thuggery as 2015 elections are fast approaching, warning that anybody found wanting will face the wrath of the law.

Making the declaration while on a familiarization visit to the Emir of Kaura Namoda, the Police Commissioner, Ahmed Ibrahim, expressed the need for traditional rulers to play their quota towards achieving the aim as it could not be successful without their adequate cooperation.

The Police boss said, “As the campaigns and other political activities in relation to forth coming general elections are about to kick-start, the Police command will not fold its arms to allow unpatriotic politicians to disrupt the relative peace enjoyed by the people of the state through use of innocent youth”.

He told the Emir that the Police in conjunction with other sister security agencies will continue to be watchful and decisively deal with any erring persons or group of persons who resorted to use of thuggery aimed at causing mayhem among the public in the name politics.

He urged the monarch to direct his district and village heads to sensitize the public, especially youths, to desist from being involved in activities that will cost them unnecessary suffering.

In his remarks, the monarch, Muhammad Asha, commended the Commissioner for the assessment visit, saying the effort will no doubt support the Police in ensuring effective community policing trusted by all.

He appealed to the CP for redeployment of more Police officers to the Emirate.
