Zamfara purchases ventilators, 20,000 coronavirus testing kits

Zamfara State Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle has said that his administration has provided A number of ventilators and 20,000 testing kits in its continued efforts to ensure the state remains coronavirus-free.
Matawalle, who made the pronouncement in a special broadcast in Gusau yesterday, said the items have already arrived the state and were equally distributed to the two designated isolation centers located at Yariman Bakura Specialist hospital and Damba.
“Equally, Government has trained healthcare experts on tracing of contacts and management of both suspected and confirmed cases. Ambulances have been provided to all General Hospitals in the State and the main isolation centre.
“In addition, a transit centre has been provided at the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau. All the needed equipment have been put in place at the centres and trained personnel have been deployed.
“Another thorny issue of utmost concern at this period of a pandemic like the one confronting us today is the issue of almajiri. The plight of almajiri at this period is particularly worrisome in view of their vulnerability.
“In this regard, we northern governors have agreed to repatriate the almajiri in our domains to their respective home states where they would be properly sheltered and taken care of by their parents”, Matawalle has said.
He however called on people of the State to observe their prayers at home, adding that, “All gatherings in the name of preaching by Islamic scholars as observed annually during Ramadan fasting are hereby declared banned”.
