Zangon Kataf Chairman accepts apology from critic over false allegations

Engr. Bege Joseph Gaiya, the Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government in Kaduna State, has accepted an apology from Mr. Tagwai Julius Shehu, who had made false allegations claiming that the Chairman diverted funds approved by the Governor for Christmas celebrations.

According to Philip Collins, the New Media Aid and Strategic Communication Officer to the Executive Chairman, Mr. Shehu has formally retracted his statement and apologized for the harm and misunderstanding it caused.

In his statement, Mr. Shehu said, “I, Tagwai Julius Shehu, wish to retract my post published on January 5, 2025, and I apologize for any misgivings that it might have caused the Honourable Chairman of Zangon Kataf LGA, Hon. Bege Joseph Gaiya. The general public should take note.”

The Chairman acknowledges this retraction and accepts the apology in good faith.

Engr. Gaiya remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the ongoing development of Zangon Kataf LGA.

The public is urged to disregard the earlier unfounded allegations and to continue supporting the administration led by Engr. Bege.

The Chairman also advised young people not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to create unrest and escalate political crises they do not fully understand.

Philip Collins, who signed the statement, quoted the Chairman as thanking the public for their continued trust and support, and reassuring them of his unwavering dedication to service and integrity.
