Zulum assigns portfolios to 9 commissioners, creates new ministry
Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has assigned to the nine newly sworn-in commissioners following their screening and confirmation by the Borno State House of Assembly.
The governor has also approved the creation of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development as part of efforts to strengthen governance, accelerate post-conflict recovery and stimulate economic growth.
Those affected are Satumari Abdulaziz Samaila, Commissioner, Ministry of Inter-Governmental Affairs and Special Duties; Babagana Malarima, Ministry of Religious Affairs; and Maina Yaumi, Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.
Others are Engr. Tijjani Alkali Goni, Ministry of Water Resources; Arch. Isa Garba Haladu, Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement; Engr. Mohammed Habib, Ministry of Environment; Dr. Bawu Musami, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources; Ibrahim Hala Hassan, Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism; and Engr. Adam Bukar Bababe, Ministry of Works and Housing.
The governor directed all the commissioners to resume work immediately, urging them to commit themselves to the service of the people and ensure the successful implementation of the administration’s policies and programmes.
He told the commissioners to work closely with their Permanent Secretaries, directors and other staff to ensure effective service delivery.
