Diogo José Teixeira da Silva, known simply as Diogo Jota, was born on December 4, 1996, in Porto, Portugal. He kicked off his career at Paços de Ferreira, where his early potential was spotted, despite being initially overlooked by bigger clubs due to his small stature.

A career shaped by loan moves

Jota’s journey through football took him from Paços de Ferreira to Atlético Madrid in 2016. However, it was during a series of successful loan spells—first at FC Porto and later at Wolverhampton Wanderers—that his career really took off. His performances helped Wolves secure Premier League promotion in 2018.

Wolves to Liverpool

After joining Wolverhampton Wanderers permanently in 2018, Jota quickly became a key player, netting 44 goals in 131 appearances. In 2020, he made a high-profile move to Liverpool for £41 million, where he continued to impress, scoring 65 goals over five seasons.

International glory with Portugal

Jota represented Portugal at various youth levels before making his senior debut in 2019. He played in both the 2020 and 2024 European Championships and helped Portugal win the UEFA Nations League twice, in 2019 and 2025.
