Two suspected members of a notorious criminal syndicate specialized in vandalisation of armored cables belonging to government and Yola Electricity Distribution Company have been arrested by the police in Adamawa state.
Those arrested are Emmanuel Joseph,17 years old and 25years old, Yohanna Sulei, who are residents of Boronji settlement in Yola North local government area, just behind Adamawa state government house.
In a press statement issued in Yola Monday by the spokesman of the Adamawa state police command, SP Sulaiman Njuroje,it was explained that the police operatives attached to Dougirei Divisional Headquarters while on patrol responded to a distress call while the suspects were Vandalizing the armoured cables connecting Boronji Water Treatment plant.
“Police operatives attached to Dougirei Divisional Police Headquarters, While on Confidence Building Patrol along Boronji Water Treatment plant, Behind Government House, Yola, responded to Distress Called from the Manager of the Water Treatment plant and Arrested a 17years old Emmanuel Joseph and 25years Yohanna Sulei all residents of Boronji Yola North.
“The Suspects Conspired and Vandalized Armoured Cables connecting light to the treatment plant resulting to Shutting down of Water Supply.
“Investigation so far reveals that the Suspects are Collaborating with Some yet to be arrested receivers who equally benefits even more from the Services of the Water Treatment plant”.
While warning receivers of stolen items to desist from such bad manners, Commissioner of Police,CP Afolabi Babatola assured that Criminals of Such attitude and their Collaborators will never escape punishment.
Our Correspondent in Yola reported that, the activities of these armoured cables vandals have been on the increase in the state capital and it’s environs for a very long time now, especially the armoured cables connected to the electric transformers which in most cases affect the supply of each location it is vandalised throwing residents in to darkness.
