Kaduna Police Command, has arrested a 20-year old mother, Faith Alhassan for allegedly throwing her own child inside a well in order to marry her former boyfriend.
The State Commissioner of Police, Umar Muri disclosed this while parading the suspect along side others in kaduna yesterday.
According to the Police, the corpse of the baby girl was found in a well at Gantan village in Kachia local government area of the state on December 28, 2020 at about 7:00am.
Through intelligence reports, the Police arrested the suspect after the father of the baby had complained on the whereabouts of the baby.
Speaking to newsmen, Faith confessed that she killed her baby but not because she wanted to marry her former boyfriend.
According to her, she didn’t know what came over her that drove her into killing her own baby.
“I am here because of my daughter that I threw into the well and she died. I don’t know what came over me when I carried out the act.
“I did not kill her because I want to marry. I just don’t know what entered me, I am not happy for doing it,” she said.
CP Umar M. Muri said that the suspect would be arraigned in court after investigations were concluded
