2015: Lawmaker cautions against hooliganism, thuggery

A  Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) stalwart in Kebbi State who is also a member of the Federal House of Representative,  Aminu Koko (PDP, Koko/Mayama) has called on politicians across the state to guard against hooliganism and thuggery as 2015 general elections draw nearer.

He stated this while fielding questions from newsmen during the party’s screening exercise at Birnin Kebbi, adding that people should forget about their political differences by promoting democracy.

  Aminu averred that the country’s democracy has come a long way, therefore all sort of hooliganism and thuggery associated with elections should by now be a thing of the past.

“We cannot afford to allow political brutality, thuggery and other vices to characterize our political landscape 16 years after the hard fight that gave birth to our democracy” he said.

He pointed out that with 16 years of uninterrupted democracy; Nigeria’s democracy has attained a maturity stage of which the nation and her citizens should be marching forward.

On the fear that the next year’s election may be bloody, the lawmaker urged Nigerians to stop insinuating danger for the country, adding that Nigerians should guard against utterances that could cause disintegration of the entity called Nigeria.

The lawmaker called on the people of the state especially none indigenes residing in the state to have faith in God and belief that the election would be conducted peacefully.
