The spiritual leader of Qadiriyya Sect in Nigeria and West Africa, Sheikh Dr. Qaribullah Sheikh Nasiru Kabara has advised Nigerians not follow their own mind in choosing candidates in 2023 election but to submit everything to God to choose the best for the country.
Sheikh Kabara gave the advice at a press conference at his residence on Wednesday to mark the end of the 72nd annual Maukibi celebration.
According to him, Nigerians should think twice and vote wisely in the 2023 general election in order to get leaders that would take the country to the promised land.
According to him, “as a Muslim, we should turn to God to make the best choice for us, we should not make a choice and feel that it is the right. After making a choice, we should pray to God to make it the best.
“I advise Nigerians, that as we head into the next election, we should think twice, thoroughly and vote wisely for the right candidate. We should submit ourselves to God,” he said.
Shiekh Kabara also called on clerics to shun wordly things, selfish interest and keep sentiments aside by sensitizing electorates to vote credible leaders to forge the country ahead.
On the Maukibi, the revered leader thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for sending delegation to grace the occasion every year.
He also expressed gratitude to the governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for his contribution towards the success of the annual event since his time as deputy governor up to the time he became a governor.
He also thanked all an sundry for contributing towards the success of the Maukibi, which he started with few attendants that did not pass 30 people but now receivesmillions participants.
Sheikh Qaribullah explained that the Maukibi is practiced to remember the contribution of late Sheikh Jilani towards the propagation of Islam, especially in Africa, who lived about 1,000 years ago.
The spiritual leader noted that remembering past Ulamas and copying their lifestyle is enjoined in Islam and that is the essence of organising the Maukibi where the Qadiriyya followers would gather at a place to listen to lectures about the history of the Ulamas and other religious supplications and prayers are also performed.
