2025 Hajj: NAHCON to launch TikTok channel, use local languages

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced plans to launch a TikTok channel, increasing its social media presence to enhance engagement with pilgrims and stakeholders.
According to a statement by Fatima Sanda Usara, NAHCON’s Information and Public Relations officer, the commission will also begin translating and recording its press releases in eight Nigerian languages: Nupe, Fulfulde, Hausa, Yoruba, Kanuri, Igbo, and Pidgin English.
This move aims to cater to electronic media correspondents, particularly radio stations, and promote more qualitative engagements across various media handles ahead of the 2025 Hajj and beyond.
The launch of the TikTok channel and expanded language services demonstrate NAHCON’s commitment to enhancing communication and accessibility for pilgrims and stakeholders nationwide.
Part of the statement reads: ‘’Certain changes were made in the media arm of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria thereby charging us with more responsibilities. The support the Commission always enjoys from our esteemed colleagues will make our tasks easier. We really appreciate it.
‘’One of the areas we are looking at is making adjustments in our social media platforms to promote more qualitative engagements across our various media handles thereby reducing over-posting of the same messages within the same circle of users. ‘’
‘’Towards achieving these modest results press releases will follow this format: after full press releases, the content will be summarized for the ease of readers., the press releases would be translated and voiced (audio release of the press statement in) in Fulfulde, Nupe, Hausa, Yoruba, Kanuri, Igbo and Pidgin English. This is to serve the interests of electronic media correspondents, especially radio stations. The audios will be shared on our various social media.’’ the statement stated.
