The 2025 House of Purpose Ministry Fire Convention, held in Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, concluded successfully, with clerics emphasizing the importance of a results-oriented prayer life for Christians.
This convention brought together Christians from across the country, emphasizing the importance of making prayer a priority in their daily lives.
In his sermon, keynote speaker Pastor Joseph Haruna underscored that prayer is crucial for unlocking Nigeria’s destiny. He referenced 1 Thessalonians 5:17, which instructs, “Pray without ceasing.” According to him, this verse encourages believers to maintain a continuous habit of communication with God rather than engaging in a single, never-ending prayer.
Pastor Haruna emphasized that prayer is not merely a ritual; it is a powerful tool that can bring about change within individuals, communities, and nations. He urged Christians to prioritize prayer, citing Jesus’ example of often withdrawing to solitary places to pray (Luke 5:16).
The cleric also highlighted the importance of praying for leaders, referencing Romans 13:1, which states, “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.” He encouraged Christians to pray for their leaders to govern with wisdom and justice.
As Christians, we are called to pray for the peace and prosperity of our nation, as mentioned in Psalm 122:6. Despite the numerous challenges Nigeria faces—from insecurity to economic hardship—prayer can facilitate a turnaround. The Bible assures us, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).
According to Pastor Haruna, prayer involves more than simply asking God for things; it is about building a relationship with Him. It requires seeking His face, listening to His voice, and obeying His word. When believers prioritize prayer, they can experience a deeper connection with God, leading to personal transformation.
The Scriptures remind us, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7). Prayer is a powerful tool that can open doors, break chains, and bring about miracles.
He asserted that Nigeria needs prayer, urging Christians to rise to the challenge and pray for their leaders, the economy, as well as security and stability. We must pray for healing, restoration, and revival. As stated in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
As Christians, we have a responsibility to pray for our nation. We must seek God’s intervention, guidance, and protection, and pray for a spiritual awakening that will transform our country.
Prayer is not just a Christian duty; it is a privilege. It allows us to partner with God in bringing about His will on earth. Through prayer, we tap into God’s power and can expect to see results.
The Bible advises us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17), emphasizing that prayer should be a continuous process rather than a one-time event. We should pray in the morning, throughout the day, and at night.
Host pastor Apostle Yakubu Yusuf stated that Nigeria’s problems will not be solved by politicians or economists, but rather through the power of prayer. He called on citizens to pray for God’s wisdom, guidance, and intervention.
As Christians, we are the salt and light of the world (Matthew 5:13-14), tasked with shining Christ’s light in a dark world. Prayer is the fuel that keeps us shining.
Let us prioritize prayer and intercede for Nigeria, our leaders, the economy, and the security of our nation. Let’s seek healing, restoration, and revival.
Pastor Haruna referenced Isaiah 32:18, which states, “My people will live in a peaceful habitation, in safe dwellings, and in quiet resting places.” This verse signifies a future time of peace, security, and rest for God’s people, free from persecution and disturbance.
Drawing inspiration from 1 Timothy 2:1-2, he urged, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority-that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
May God bless Nigeria, and may we witness a mighty move of God in our nation.
Pastor Yakubu Yusuf expressed gratitude for the success of the 2025 Purpose Convention, thanking all the guest speakers who attended despite their busy schedules.
He encouraged Christians and all Nigerians to engage in prayer to foster peace, unity, security, and love—not only for the country, but also for themselves.
