The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Oyo State Government of removing a campaign billboard belonging to its governorship candidate, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, in Ibadan ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by his media office during the weekend, Adegoke alleged that the billboard, located at Idi-Ape Junction, was taken down by the state government without justification.
According to him, the billboard, which featured his photograph alongside that of the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was replaced with another displaying Governor Seyi Makinde, the APM presidential candidate and the party’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, Bimbo Adekambi.
The ADC governorship candidate described the action as illegal and accused the state government of attempting to suppress the growing popularity of the party and its candidates.
Adegoke further claimed that the alleged removal reflected fears over Atiku Abubakar’s increasing acceptance in the state, insisting that such actions would not affect the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.
He urged Governor Makinde to allow a level political playing field, arguing that political competition should be decided by voters rather than through actions he described as undemocratic.
