The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its mobilization efforts across the North Central, with senior party figures setting an ambitious target of delivering the region’s highest vote total for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The campaign to strengthen Tinubu’s support in the region was formally launched in Abuja on Friday when the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, inaugurated a mobilization forum headed by Arc. Sonny Echono.
Akume said the initiative was designed to galvanize support for Tinubu and encourage a strong voter turnout across the North Central during the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
Rather than merely seeking victory in the region, the APC leaders said their ambition was to ensure that the North Central produces the largest regional vote contribution to Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule described the mobilization forum as timely, arguing that it would provide an important platform for coordinating the party’s activities ahead of the election.
Sule said some of the challenges confronting the APC in the region were gradually being addressed.
He also claimed that the latest voter register pointed to strong support for the ruling party across the North Central, expressing confidence that the region could meet the ambitious target set for Tinubu.
Minister of Information Idris Mohammed also endorsed the initiative, describing it as the first of its kind in the region.
The mobilization effort brings together several APC political figures as the party seeks to consolidate its support base ahead of the 2027 contest.
For Echono, who is leading the forum, the political objective has moved beyond simply asking whether Tinubu can win the North Central.
He said the focus is now on positioning the region to give the President the highest number of votes possible in the 2027 presidential election.
The development signals an early intensification of the APC’s grassroots mobilization strategy in the North Central, a region expected to play a significant role in determining the outcome of the 2027 presidential contest.
