From Femi Oyelola, Kaduna

The people of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area have declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing renewed hope in security and major infrastructure interventions in the area.
In a statement issued by the Council Chairman, Dr. Salisu Isah, the community described the recent flag-off of the reconstruction of the 122-kilometer Mando-Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road, valued at N177 billion, as a defining moment for the local government.
“It is a moment of thanksgiving to Almighty Allah and a moment of renewed hope for generations of our people who have long prayed and waited to see this vital road restored.
“For Birnin Gwari, this is not simply a road project; it is the restoration of an economic lifeline,” Isah said.
He noted that the highway serves as a gateway to Lagos and is one of the most important corridors linking Northern Nigeria with the South, relied upon daily by farmers, traders, transporters, students, civil servants and artisans.
According to him, the reconstruction will improve security, boost agriculture and commerce, create jobs, ease transportation, and strengthen the movement of people and goods across the region.
The Council Chairman recalled that President Tinubu had visited Birnin Gwari before assuming office, traveled by road, and witnessed the difficulties the people faced.
“You gave your word that the Federal Government would address the security challenges affecting Birnin Gwari and would also attend to the deplorable condition of the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road.
“Today, by the grace of Almighty Allah, we are witnessing the fulfillment of those commitments. The improvement in security in our communities has already brought renewed hope, encouraged the return of farmers to their farms and created a more conducive environment for economic activity,” he stated.
He also commended Governor Uba Sani for sustained attention to Birnin Gwari, highlighting several state interventions.
These according to him, include the ongoing reconstruction of the 36-kilometer Bagoma-Gagumi Road, which Isah said has reached an advanced stage, the general renovation of the Jibril Mai Gwari Memorial Hospital, and the construction of a modern abattoir and veterinary clinic in the area.
“For a community that has endured considerable challenges, improving the condition of our healthcare facilities is not a luxury but a necessity,” he said.
“These interventions demonstrate what can be achieved when government listens to communities and responds to their needs,” he added.
