From Ahmad Muhammad, Bauchi
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Bauchi Women Coalition for Women’s Inclusion, Equity and Good Governance has appealed to the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) gubernatorial candidate, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, to select a female deputy governorship candidate.
The coalition made the appeal in a statement signed by its Director of Media and Communication, Hajiya Hajara Musa, which was distributed to journalists in Bauchi.
The coalition urged Senator Buba to back the call for a female running mate, pointing out that women and youth constitute the majority of the voting population in Bauchi State.
According to the group, choosing a competent woman as a running mate is not only a matter of equity but also a smart electoral strategy that could tip the scales in the party’s favour.
“The Coalition believes that women’s inclusion in leadership strengthens governance, promotes social development, and ensures that the voices of women, children, youth, and vulnerable groups are adequately represented in government,” Hajiya Musa stated.
Endorsement of Senator Shehu Buba
While advocating for gender balance on the ticket, the coalition officially endorsed Senator Shehu Buba’s governorship aspiration.
The group called on all key political stakeholders within the party to support their stance by selecting an experienced and qualified female candidate to run alongside him, noting that Bauchi women possess the leadership capacity and wealth of experience needed to drive progress in the state.
The Coalition reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful democratic engagement and vowed to continue advocating for the representation and active participation of women in decision-making roles at all levels of governance.
John stated that the administration aims to showcase Kaduna’s creative potential to the world through innovative film productions that can compete on any international stage.
