The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has vowed to end what he described as President Bola Tinubu’s government of “lies and deceit” if elected in 2027.

Makinde, who is also the Oyo State governor, made the declaration on Thursday at the APM South-West Town Hall meeting in Akure, Ondo State, where he unveiled his four-point Reset Agenda for Nigeria.

The agenda focuses on the economy, education, security and socio-political development.

The governor criticised the Tinubu administration over its failure to fulfil campaign promises, particularly on electricity, and challenged the Federal Government to publish its petroleum pricing template to explain how fuel prices are determined.

“The 2027 elections will end the government of lies and deceit,” he declared.

On his economic agenda, Makinde promised to reduce the cost of living and doing business, improve infrastructure and create an environment for businesses to grow. He also advocated taxing prosperity rather than poverty, insisting that Nigerians should be empowered to become productive before being taxed.

On education, he promised improved access to quality learning, while his security strategy would combine intelligence gathering with kinetic and non-kinetic measures to tackle insecurity, including militancy in oil-producing communities.

He also proposed an inclusive, four-year transitional government of national unity to promote accountability and responsible leadership.

Makinde accused the Federal Government of allegedly fuelling crises within opposition parties and urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to allow opposition parties to operate freely.

“Stop using the backdoor to cause crisis for the opposition parties; there is no democracy if it’s a one-party system,” he said.

The APM candidate also challenged rival presidential hopefuls to demonstrate the physical stamina required to govern the country.

In a video circulating on social media, Makinde was seen jumping down from a stage to demonstrate his fitness, insisting that the 2027 campaign should focus on energy and capacity rather than age.

“I will not make age an issue in this campaign, but I will make it about energy,” he said, challenging other candidates to replicate the feat.
