2027: We are the preferred party of Nigerians -APC National Chairman

Apparently basking in the euphoria of the outing of his party in the just held by- elections in parts of the country, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda has boasted that his party still remains the preferred platform for most Nigerian electorates.

Yilwatda spoke yesterday in Abuja when members of the APC Press Corps paid him a condolence visit following the death of his mother, Mrs. Lidya Yilwatda which occurred over the weekend.

The National Chairman said notwithstanding the challenges the government is facing, the party and President Bola Tinubu are doing a lot in restoring the confidence of Nigerians in the affairs of the country.

“We are learning from their criticism. Every criticism they give helps us to a better victory. So we are very sure that our party will succeed in no small measure”.

He added that despite the noise in the social media and on television sets by some opposition members, the outcome of the exercise has shown that there is really no opposition against the APC ahead of the next elections.

“If you look at it, where the opposition leaders are, we all defeated them in all those locations. From Kaduna to Kano to Adamawa to Taraba. So we just made it clear that our party is a leading party.

“We are also not just a ruling party, but we are the leading party and the preferred party in Nigeria. And preferred by Nigerians. Because if you have 75% acceptance by the people across the country, our success is not just in the north but also in the south.

“Both north and south, we had clear victories. In the south-south, we had clear victories. In the southwest, we had clear victories. In the northwest, we had clear victories. In the northeast, we had clear victories. In the north-central, we had clear victories.

“It tells you that in Nigeria, APC is the most accepted party across the country. And that’s the same thing we’ve made in Nigeria. So, expect that 2027 is going to be the same thing. So forget the rhetorics on TV and television. We are not addressing television. We are addressing the people at the grassroots”.

Yilwatda further argued that the ruling party has remained progressive in nature, adding that it’s one of the things that are drawing people to the party.

“Our policies are progressive in nature. So we don’t address the bourgeois. We don’t address the rich.

“We address the poorest of the poor. And that’s what our policies are. And our target is to ensure that Nigerians, not people on TV, but Nigerians who believe in us, who have confidence in the party, who like progressive policies of the government, who like the bold step taken by the government to ensure that we make changes and bring policies that are creating the real changes that has never been seen before in this country.

“That belief is what people are making. People are voting for the party, and believe me, 2027 is a near-sure victory for us as a party”.

Yilwatda thanked the APC Press Corps  members for coming to commiserate with him, even as he urged them to continue to be factual in their reportage.

Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the Press Corps, Mr. Jude Orintusin urged the Chairman to take solace in the fact that Mama lived a fulfilled life and was also a devoted Christian.
