Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria( COREN) said 31st engineering assembly is scheduled to hold from 7th to August 9th in 2023.
The COREN President Prof Sadiq Abubakar made the disclosure during a press briefing on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said the annual engineering assembly is an event which brings all cadres of engineering practitioners together to discuss issues that will lift the engineering profession to greater heights.
“The attendance at assembly is compulsory for all engineering practitioners “.
Abubakar said the theme for this year’s Engineering Assembly is “Entrenching and Strengthening Engineering Practitioner Code of Conduct for Resilient Engineering Practice in Nigeria“.
He said the special guest of honour at the opening ceremony is president Bola Tinubu.
He added that the chairman of the opening ceremony, will be managing director/chief executive officer of WEMA bank, Moruf Oseni and Keynote address will be delivered by board chairman engineering council, Ghana Dr Kwame Boakye.
Others are past presidents of COREN, past Registrars of COREN, senior engineers, past and present federal ministry president of professional associations, permanent secretary of federal ministry of works and housing and federal capital among others.
According to him,”Professional association under the umbrella of COREN will be expected to make presentations on issues affecting members of their cadres. This issue would be collectively addressed during the assembly which will provide direction on practical steps to address the identified issues”.
He said part of the activities on the engineering program is, “The Engineering Family Forum”, designed to allow engineering practitioners discuss extensively issues affecting the profession”.
The Council’s president revealed that COREN has a new road map which will take the council to the next level.
He said the federal government’s policy of non funding of COREN’s budget will form a core agenda of family forum among others.
