6,000 PVCs abandoned in Ogwashi-Uku INEC office

No fewer than 6, 000 unclaimed Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) is currently uncollected in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Office in Ogwashi-Uku community, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
An official of INEC in the area who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity said “we have over 6,000 unclaimed PVCs in our office, the people are not willing to come and collect them, it is very sad”.
Noting that the unclaimed PVCs were source of wariness to the commission, and the people, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Aniocha South Area Council, Abu Ndekwu, said “these permanent voters’ cards are still lying there waiting for the owners to come and collect them, the people should realize that without permanent voters’ cards, no voting for the persons”.
He therefore called on those who were yet to collect the PVCs to do so to avoid being disenfranchised during elections.
Meanwhile, about 1,000 members of Accord (A) in the community on Tuesday dumped the party for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The defectors alleged that they were fed up with the party’s “lawlessness”, hence they defected to PDP where they can pursue their political career.
One of the defectors, Felix Enereh, who spoke on behalf of others, said “we dump the Accord for PDP because of its lawless ways, we are in PDP to pursue our political career”.
But Aby Ndekwu, the PDP chairman in Aniocha South Council Area, who received the defectors, assured them of the party’s commitment to their political career, and advised them to avoid anti-party activities as it was against the party’s constitution.
