90 years old judge turns law student

An Ado Ekiti high chief, Chief Julius Adeleye Fashuba, who
is the Head Judge of all traditional courts of places in Ekiti, is currently a 500-level law student of the National Open University of Nigeria,(NOUN) Ado Ekiti Study Centre.

Chief Fashuba, an accomplished man, a retired school Principal, who studied in Scotland, told the audience at a public lecture
organised by Law Students Society of NOUN, Ado Ekiti, what motivated him to go back to school to study Law after being a traditional judge for several years.
The Scottish university graduate, who has remained a source
of inspiration, encouragement and motivation to everyone that knows him, took time to chronicle his journey from birth, through schools and various establishments he has worked in different capacities, and how his assignment as the head of traditional judges in Ekiti prompted him to go and acquire formal knowledge in Law.
Speaking at the public lecture, the guest lecturer, Justice
Obafemi Adewale Esq saluted the courage of the old man and urged the students to learn from his humility and courageous attitude.
The guest lecturer, who spoke on the topic: “Enforcing
Professional Ethics among Law Students”, spoke about courtroom ethics such as punctuality, appearance, preparation, attitude to opposing counsel and duty to promote amiable settlement of disputes among others.
