Kwali: Vigilante seeks stakeholders’ help on curbing crime

The Kwali Area Council Vigilante’ command has stressed need for the support of government and the stakeholders, to enhance its fight against crime in the area.
The commandant, Haruna Pada said vigilante’ members within the area have been operating under difficult environment due to paucity of adequate funds.
Pada noted that in spite of the vigilante’s contribution to protecting lives and property no proper attention has been given to its members’ welfare.
The Commandant, who spoke through his deputy, Malam Liman Shada, stated that with the increasing population in communities that make up the council serious steps should be taken to curbing crime.
According to him, the vigilante remains one of effective and efficient complimentary security outfits for the promotion of peaceful coexistence among the people, and should be given serious attention.
Shada said among the communities that make up the ten political council wards in Kwali Area Council, none of them enjoyed any financial assistance or social support from any group.
He therefore called on the council chairman, Joseph Shazin and other stakeholders to assist provide the necessary support for vigilante’.
