Ministry of Defence Staff Agricultural Cooperative Society (MODACS) said it had empowered its members to the tune of N500million.
The President of the Association, Babatunde Gbemeshola, disclosed this during a one day sensitization on cooperative and entrepreneurship development for wealth creation held in Kaduna yesterday.
According to him, the association doled out N50 Million Naira every month to members who specialize in different entrepreneurship skills to start their own businesses.
Mr Gbemeshola added that cooperative society was a wealth creation tools to help members and that this was what Ministry of Defence Staff Agricultural Cooperative Society had been doing.
He said MODACS, which started in 2005 with just 32 members, had now grown in numbers with thousands registered members.
He said: “We have a hotel in Jos and other properties across the country that we have given out to our members which is now a source of revenue generation to them.
“We have thought our members not to totally depend on their salaries and wages rather they should develop themselves in entrepreneurship which they can even use to sustain themselves after retirement.” He said
Speaking earlier, the Consultant, Mr Peter Mpannah, said there was no bad business, but bad business men, explaining that this informed why members of MODACS were called out for the training to impact on them knowledge, skills and discipline to run a business.
