FG to conduct nationwide enumeration of small traders, others

The federal government is set to conduct a nationwide enumeration exercise for selected small scale businessmen and women including hawkers, traders, bread sellers.
The exercise will among others, enable each hawker or trader to benefit non-interest N50, 000 (Fifty thousand Naira) loan from the federal government.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo disclosed this during the inauguration of Edo state innovation hub, the largest in the South South region yesterday in Benin.
He said 200, 000 N-power graduates beneficiaries which is part of the federal government social investment scheme, are expected to carry out the enumeration exercise tagged: “traders money.”
He said the data that would be collected from the survey across markets in the federation, is the criteria to identify the very small scale business owners for the grant.
He said over 8.2 million children have benefitted from the federal government school feeding programme and gave a good account of the Federal Government Enterprise and Empowerment (GEE) programme.
He said Edo state is now one stop shop for business.
Osinbajo, revealed that the federal government will soon engaged additional 300, 000 graduates N-power, federal government social investment programme as part of measures to curb unemployment and deploy resources for the provision of solar lights in markets in Nigeria.
Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, had earlier appealed to the federal government to create a special social safety nets that would assist Libya retirees in the state.
He repeated his earlier promise to create 200, 000 jobs within the first four years of his administration.
The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo had performed the ground-breaking Ceremony of the 1,727 Emotan Gardens housing estate at Egba Community, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo state.
The project is being undertaken by Mixta Africa Plc real estate.
The Vice President, Prof. Osinbajo, commended the state government efforts toward meeting housing deficit in the country.
