A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Edo State, Solomon Iyobosa Edebiri, yesterday, said Nigerians have reasons to Celebrate at 58 years of Independence despite challenges facing the Country.
He said this while speaking on the topic: “Managing the Mineral Resources in Nigeria (Need for Localization) at the Southern Nigerian and Middle Belt Forum Development held in Benin City.
Edebiri said as a Country stands to benefit more as an indivisible entity rather than being divided
He urged those beating th drum of revolution to shave the idea and appealed to Nigerians to assist leaders of the Country to correct mistakes of the past.
“Revolution is not the way forward in this country. It is not going to work. We need dialogue, we need diplomatic approach to all the issues.
“We need to reasonably sit down together and dialogue on what will move this nation forward.
“At any point in time, we must realize that Nigeria is better as a united country. Go and take example from Germany, they were once divided but what happened? They have come back together.
“A lot of countries want to come together as one. Even the Koreans they are also trying to come back together as one.
“So, we cannot now be talking about sharing the country into two, one side should come together, the other side should go on their own, is not going to work.
The convener of the event, Dr. Sunday Idemudia, he said restructuring of the country is one of the ways the federal government can solve the problem of marginalization in the country.
He called on the federal government to also create employment for the youths to end restiveness in some part of the States.
