A network of five Non Governmental Organizations,NGOs, under the aupieces ‘Education Champions Network (ECN) Nigeria has charged the Adamawa state government to provide more funding for educational sector especially girl child education in the rural areas.
The network gave the charge in Yola Thursday at a town hall meeting organised for state legislators, school principals, school pupils and government officials with the sole aim of championing the cause of basic education for all children of school going age particularly the girl child in the state.
In her welcome address,the Executive Director of Sustainable Collective Advocacy For Africa Development Initiative (SCAAD Initi-itive),Mrs Frances Okeke said the Education Champions Network ECN) Nigeria is a global network of champions advocating for girl child education.
Represented by Dr.Orinya Agbaji, Mrs Okeke stated that ECN Nigeria envisions a country where all women and girls, particularly the most vulnerable,have access to 12 years of free,safe,and quality education.
“We call on the Adamawa state government to reimagine education in the state and find better ways to provide 12 years of safe,free, quality education for all”.
