The Deputy National Organizing secretary of the All progressives Congress (APC), Nze Chidi Duru has lauded President Bola Tinubu over his recent ban on public funded travels by federal government’s public servants, describing it as a masterstroke.
Duru in a statement on Sunday said the ban which came to many as a surprise has once more demonstrated the genuine resolve of President Tinubu to put the country back on the path of economic recovery.
He said the suspension of public funded trips, in significant ways, addresses both the inherent recklessness of the national bureaucracy and the associated waste and official profligacy linked to it; adding that it has positive implications for the value of the Naira in the foreign exchange market.
“By whatever consideration this policy is measured, I submit personally that this is one huge, cheery policy announcement that the President should be commended and applauded for.
“To my mind, this is a profound expression of administrative seriousness in the ongoing efforts to salvage the country’s economy especially our national currency, the Naira”.
Duru who is also a member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC appealed to the President to make the ban a permanent policy feature of the federal government bureaucracy because of its wide positive implications.
