Four persons appeared before Upper Shari’ah court 1 in Bauchi over alleged sodomy activities which is contrary to the sharia law in the state.
The four suspects were arraigned before Upper Shari’ah court one yesterday in Bauchi by the Police Prosecution Officer, Sergeant A. Garba, who told the court that the suspects were arrested on 8th May 2014 in Gumau town of Toro local government area of Bauchi state over an allegation of engaging in homosexual activities which is a serious offense under shariah penal code.
The police prosecution explained to court that four suspects Abubakar Alhassan, Sani Sale, Misbahu Sale and Shehu Ahmed were arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy and sodomy which is contrary to section 126 and 133 Shari’ah penal code law of 2001.
When asked by the Judge whether they have any plea to make before the court over the allegation of engaging in homosexual activities, three of the suspects answered to affirmative in engaging in such bad act but pleaded for mercy from the court while Misbahu Sale pleaded not guilty of all the charges against him.
The presiding judge, Malam Abdu Y. Ibrahim, has since adjourned the case to June 26, for further hearing.
