From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna
Niger state governor and chairman, Northern Governors Forum (NGF) Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to rule out the possibilities of negotiation with the Boko Haram members and rather, fight them to a standstill.
Aliyu argued that the terrorists group may not be ready for negotiation with the government now until they were seriously fought to a standstill and they begin to lose out, after which they may come out of their hiding and beg for negotiation.
He gave the suggestion while receiving on a courtesy visit the International Ministers Global Conference, which was led by its president, His Eminence Bishop John Micah, in conjunction with some of his members, at his private residence in Tungan Minna, the state capital.
He therefore called on Nigerians to give their maximum support to the federal government and be united to fight the terrorists in all ramifications, Including those who are extreme in their views, adding that both Christianity and Islam emphasised moderation in people’s actions, thinking and in whatever they do.
In the same vain, he noted that in order to forestall security breach in Niger state he has instructed the Secretary to the state Government, Hon. Ndako Idris Kpaki to start the process of registration of cooking gas dealers in the state, with the view that the gas dealers also ensure registration of their customers’ names, their home address as well as asking such customers to disclose what he or she intended to do with the gas being bought.
