One Sunday Usman, 25, has appeared in a Kuje Upper Area court for allegedly stealing aluminium roofing zinc belonging to an engineer.
Usman, of no fixed address, was charged with four-counts of criminal trespass, mischief, theft and public nuisance.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Samuel Ocheche, told the court that one Timothy Samuel, a security guard at Peace Estate, Kuje, reported the matter at the police station on July 2.
Ocheche said that on July 1, at about 11. 30 p.m. Samuel entered an estate which was under construction and stole the zinc, property of one engineer Femi.
“He jumped over the fence into the estate and removed the aluminium roofing zincs valued at N150, 000,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said Samuel was arrested when he was trying to load the zincs into a truck.
Ocheche said the offences contravened the provisions of sections 342, 287, 326 and 183 of the Penal code.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the presiding judge, Mr Adamu Wakili, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Wakili said the surety must be responsible, own a landed property and reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
He adjourned the case till August 4, for continuation of hearing. (NAN)
