African Democratic Congress, ADC, one the registered political parties in the country, has warned that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, whose presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu won the 2023 general election with about 8 million out of over 70 million registered voters then, must not be allowed to overrun the country and derail her democracy.
The National Chairman of ADC, Dr Ralph Okey Nwosu gave the warning in Thursday in his presentation at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party in Abuja.
Okey Nwosu pointed out that every thing must be done, with serious determination, to reverse this trend, reclaim our country, and position it for greatness.
The ADC National Chairman said, “You will agree with me that what is happening in the ecosystem that constitutes Nigeria democratic government at this time is inexplicably tragic.
“These two men (late Chiefs Ayo Adebanjo and Edwin Kiagbodo Clark) forewarned us. Unfortunately, we allowed the voodoo spell of a few to overshadow this great country, even in a democracy.
“If we were in a military regime, it would have been a different cup of tea. But to say that over 70 million adult Nigerians with PVC were helpless in 2023 and today has become over 100 million, suggests Nigerians ignorance and complacency.
“President Bola Tinubu received about 8 million votes despite the warning of Pa Adebanjo. There is fire on the mounting, people are dying out of hunger and security breakdown, including the 8 million voters.
“As leaders we have an important role to play to reverse the deadly malaise that is crippling our nation.
“We must not allow APC with their 8 million votes to overrun this country and derail our democracy.
“With over 80 million adult Nigerians on our side, we are determined to reverse this trend, reclaim our country, and position it for greatness.
“More than half of their so called supporters are already pledged to work with ADC once they are assured of our sincerity”, he said.
The National Chairman confirmed that ADC is already in talks with some other political parties and association ahead of the 2027 general election.
His words, ‘We are meeting with PRP and other civil society organizations , this rituals of looking Nigerians in the face and says enough is enough, we will beg Nigerians to accept them”
Asked if the ADC is in talks with the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last general election, Mr Peter Obi, the ADC National Chairman replied, “I have not seen Mr Peter Obi for the past one year, we couldn’t be talking with him , but if he decides after seeing what we are doing” well, no problem.
“But what we are doing is not about politicians but Nigerian people , I am more interested in the African farmers’ club where we have over 10 million people.
“But , if he (Obi) sees what we are doing in ADC and says enough is enough and wants to join us , we will open up our hands and absorb him, they are welcome, our door is open.
