Hundreds of Nigerian women gathered yesterday at the Unity Fountain, Maitama, and Abuja to intercede for the release of the over 200 abducted Chibok school girls a100 days ago.
The women in unity, putting aside all religious affiliations and ethnicity, prayed to God to melt the hardened heart of the terrorist group that has held the Nigerian nation to ransom for about six years now.
They also prayed for Gods guidance and direction for the president and to intervene in the affairs of the nation.
They prayed for the success of the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, especially in the fight against terrorism. The rally is expected to climax (today) Wednesday, the 100th day since the alarming abduction of the girls.
In a statement issued by Media Consultant to ‘Kasuwa da Kasuwa’ organisation, Danladi Akilu, the women arrived Monday night, keeping night vigil and praying that God will defeat the Goliath of terrorism and abduction in Nigeria.
The women, mostly mothers, who felt outraged at the non-release of the girls after 100 days prayed that “the Goliath of abduction and terrorism must fall”, while denouncing the terrorists and their sponsors as enemies of the Nigerian nation.
Among those who attended were Mrs. Tonia Abara, of National Council of Women Societies, the President of Gender Support for Women Emancipation Development, Chief (Mrs.) Ann Frances Nosike, National President of ‘Kasuwa-da-Kasuwa’, Hajiya Halimatu B. Jumare, and the founder, Lady Chy New World Order Foundation, Archbishop (Dr.) Chy Oriaka.
