Former Nigerian military ruler, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), has called on the Federal Government to take a firm stance against kidnappers and terrorist groups amid the country’s rising insecurity.
In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the retired general stressed that no individual involved in acts of terrorism should be spared and warned against negotiating with violent criminals.
“No bandits, no terrorists, no terrorists negotiators or terrorists sympathizers should be spared for disrupting the peace of Nigerians,” IBB wrote.
He added: “If I was the President, that would be my message to the Nigerian military and state governors. We can go band for band, we are not negotiating!”
The statement reflects growing public concern over the escalation of kidnappings, attacks on communities, and insecurity across Nigeria, as citizens call for decisive government action to restore safety and order.
