The APC Initiative for Good Governance (APC-IGG) has commended President Bola Tinubu for implementing reforms in the military pension system.

In a statement yesterday, the group’s national president, Ambassador Musa Tsoken, highlighted the recent approval of Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu (Rtd) as Chairman of the Military Pensions Board, noting that the decision signals a strategic step toward strengthening institutional performance.

He said the appointment demonstrated the administration’s intention to place experienced and competent hands in critical positions to enhance the welfare of retired military personnel and ensure effective management of pension processes.

Tsoken, who also serves as the North-East Leader of the APC Northern Nigeria United Forum, called for the immediate and full implementation of the presidential directive to enable Adamu assume office without delay.

According to him, allowing the retired Air Vice Marshal to promptly take up the role would enable him deploy his extensive experience in military finance, budgeting, and institutional management toward reforming the pension system.

The APC-IGG president further warned that any delay in the assumption of office by a duly appointed nominee could undermine the authority of the President and weaken constitutional governance.

He said, “All arms and agencies of government are constitutionally bound to give effect to presidential appointments and directives in good faith and with utmost dispatch. Such prompt implementation upholds the rule of law, prevents institutional friction, and reinforces public confidence in the governance process.”

Tsoken stressed the importance of seamless administrative transitions and strict adherence to due process in ensuring continuity in governance and effective service delivery.

He therefore urged the Presidency, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and other relevant institutions to take coordinated steps to address any pending administrative or procedural issues surrounding the appointment.

Tsoken added that timely action would ensure that the Renewed Hope Agenda continues to yield tangible benefits for retired service men and women without unnecessary setbacks.

Reaffirming its support for the Tinubu administration, the APC-IGG president pledged its readiness to collaborate with stakeholders in advancing institutional discipline, transparency, and service-driven governance.

“We believe that swift resolution of this matter will send a strong and positive signal that Nigeria’s democratic institutions are maturing and that no individual or agency is above the lawful authority of the President and Commander-in-Chief,” he added.
