The Yobe State security council chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni, has commended the people of the state for conducting themselves peacefully during the party primary conducted so far.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner of Police, Yobe State command, Usman Kamfani Jibrin, said the council advised any person or group who felt aggrieved to seek redress lawfully and through constituted authorities.
He said the security agencies are fully alert and any attempt to disrupt the peace of the state would be dealt with decisively adding that, any individual or group involved in sponsoring or participating in political banditry or thuggery would face the full wrath of the law.
According to the Police chief, security agents have uncovered plans by some politicians to import thugs into the state to cause confusion “we are working on identity of sponsors and anyone involved”.
He also warned all politicians against political rallies, saying, “there is a timetable for every political activity and it is not yet time for political rallies”.
In another development, the public has been advised to keep vigil and observant on movement of any strange person or persons around their communities.
The Adviser on Security Affairs to the Governor, Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd) gave the advice today, saying, criminals are fleeing military operations in the bush and looking for safe haven.
“The public should report the presence of suspicious persons and movements in and around their localities, and anyone found harbouring criminals would be apprehended and subjected to the laws” he further warned.
