… We’re already have 12 million votes -Yilwatda

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday officially announced the Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima as the running-mate to President Bola Tinubu for the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made at a meeting attended by members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party and members of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), led by its Chairman and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma.
The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari, announced President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima as the APC’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates, respectively, for the 2027 election.
President Bola Tinubu was represented at the occasion by the Political Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Hon. Ibrahim Masari, who also announced Tinubu and Shettima as the party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates.
In his opening remarks, the National Organizing Secretary of the party, Suleiman Argungu said the occasion is another demonstration that the APC is ready to work with its stakeholders at different levels to ensure victory at the election.
Argungu said the APC has done so well to deserve the reelection of President Tinubu and his Vice for a second term in office.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) and governor of Imo state, Sen. Hope Uzodimma said the governors are delighted that the event has followed the primaries conducted by the party.
Uzodimma said the governors will continue to support President Bola Tinubu in his quest to continue to provide inclusive government and development to every part of the country.
He equally eulogized the members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, adding that very soon they will all join hands to campaign across the country for the party’s candidate.
In his address, the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nantawe Yilwatda said the occasion is a reflection of the wishes of the record over 12 million APC members across the country that voted for Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate.
He said: “Already, we have 12 million votes in the Kitty and we believe that we will even get more because those party members also have family members and friends who will also join them in voting for our candidates.
“The government has done well across the country by providing different projects that were never there before. So we have no fears that victory is assured.
“Go and tell the president that Nigerians and our members are ready to vote for him because they are very happy with him.
“We will all come out and mobilize the people, all of us are ready for that. Even one governor told me that his state will turn out the highest number of votes for Mr. President. We are not in doubt, we are not shaken in any way because come 2027, our victory is assured.
“If you doubt our membership, then you should doubt your international passport and your National Identity Card because it was the same data base that we used in registering our members”.
It could be recalled that political parties have till July 11 to submit the names of the candidates to the the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
