…blames Nigeria’s challenges on leadership failure
By Jude Opara
The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prof. Sodiq Gombe, has identified poor leadership as the root cause of Nigeria’s major challenges, urging young Nigerians to use the 2027 general election as an opportunity to influence the country’s future.
Gombe, who spoke on Tuesday, argued that failures across different sectors of the country are linked to the quality of leadership at the highest levels of government.
The SDP chairman alleged that many political office holders in the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary lack the character and capacity required for effective governance, a situation he said has contributed to the emergence of unsuitable individuals in positions of authority.
He maintained that Nigeria’s youthful population has the numbers and influence to change the direction of the country through their participation in the electoral process.
According to him, correcting the nation’s leadership challenges remains the first step towards addressing other problems confronting Nigeria.
Gombe therefore called on young voters to take advantage of the 2027 elections to make choices that would promote better governance and reshape the country’s political future.
